Multi-user db with lots of bound forms
I apologize in advance for the long background. I would appreciate any
advice related to bound vs. unbound forms, or generally avoiding
corruption. I have read previous topics on bound vs. unbound... It
appears that there are very strong opinions for both sides, but no real
explanation as to why.
Situation:
I am now the owner of a very form-heavy multi-user .mdb. By
"form-heavy" I m...

Problem with Tony's Auto FE Updater too
I am also having trouble with Tony's updater and the encrypted password. The
only way I can get this to work is by making the ini file read-only to
prevent it from adding the additional line and encrypting the password, which
I do not want to do because the only user account that it will work with is
some type of administrator account.
If anyone has gotten this to work, I would appreci...

Network performance
Hi
I have an 2000Access application which run in several network
installations.
One of my customers claims that the application is very slow in his network.

and the .mdw-file. On the client he has the object database (containing
forms, reports, code etc) and the Access 2000 runtime.
The path to the table ...

Database Crashing
I'm encountering a crashing problem (database inconsistency) with a shared
Access 2002 database. I've split a DB into a front-end (sales.mdb) and
back-end (sales_be.mdb) and there are approximately 5 users logged into the
DB at any given time.
The problem is that I have one user who has to continually update the BE to
push sales orders (every 15-20 minutes) and it at least 2-3 times a ...

Multi user design gaffe
Wondering if anyone can suggest a solution to my dilemma. (VB6, ADO,
Access 200).
The situation: Because I had pre-existing data inquiry modules that
relied on database records, as well as a complex central data entry
form that uses a recordset with a number of underlying tables, I
decided to implement the form's cancel function via transaction
rollback. Probably not a great idea, but it w...

Strange network share experiences...
Dear All,
I'm a new member of this forum, so as well as asking a question in my first
post, I'd better say hello to you all.
I've been developing databases and applications in MS Access for 10 years now,
and have experienced every version since Access 2.0. Fortunately we're not
stuck in the dark ages any more, and life is relatively easy.
I would like to tell you about a situation I ha...

automatic update of app over the internet
I have a split, secured db in a multiuser setting with ca. 20 users and I
use the AutoFEupdater for distribution to the workstations.

to have the app automatically check for updates in a folder on my website
