Alternate input masks on a form
I have a membership database with one [PhoneBH] as one of the fields.
I have an input mask to ensure uniformity of presentation when
printed.
Recently members are using a mobile phone as their business contact
number. I would like to present an option button:
" Business number is a mobile "
which changes the default mask.
Default mask is:
00\ 0000\ 0000;0
and mobile mask is:...

Unusually large database
I have a 322Kb Excel spreadsheet. I have imported all the worksheets as
tables into Access. The resulting MDB file is a staggering 90Mb.
How on earth did this happen? Anything I can do to reduce the size of this
file? I'm not going to make any friends sending it as an attachment.
Thanks in advance......

Syntax problem with [FieldNames]
I have a form open with data in various fields - I have a
field in a table called "PURL" - I have the value displayed in
a control on the form - I can access the contents of this
field in my VB code using something like;
strFieldContents = [PURL]
If the field contains "D:\MyProg\" then after the assignment
my variable, strFieldContents now contains the same text and

Tabbed forms
I've been playing with tabbed forms as a way of sensibly designing forms
that don't need to be scrolled but can't see a way of altering the tabbed
background colours or the font of the tab heading.
Also if I start dividing the form up with lines, these lines appear on the
other tabs not just the one I have drawn it on. Any ideas?
Any GOOD books or website links for forms design info wo...

Help With Multiple Tables, Fields and 'query' -
Hello,
I use MS Access 2003 on Win XP (SP2).
I am opening 'exported' (DTS) data from a Solomon DB that has about 1400
tables and from 10 to 50 fields per table (Yuk!).
Several major tables have a 'field name' of NAME and within those
columns (~140,000 rows) I have a 'last name' ~ 'first name' -
importantly I also have a 'client ID' field that must stay 'related' to
the NAME.
I want to ...

Filter by Form Issue
I am running a database using Access 2003. There is no security in it as
there are only four of us using it. Never thought there was a need.
My issue is this, when we do a filter by form in tab 1 and then go across to
tab 3, all the information has disappeared. Yet if I go into design view and
then back, the info appears.
How can I rectify this?...

Sorting ranges of revenue and ranges of employees
I am having no luck at all trying to successfully sort in descending order
ranges of revenue s/a "$500,000-$1,000,000" or employee ranges s/a "1 to 50"
or "1-50." Either the ranges turn into dates (with employee ranges) or both
revenue and employee range columns don't sort in true descending order at all
(where, say, $500,000-$1,000,000 would automatically be above
$50,000-$60,000).

Automatic running of a macro/code
I'm in the beginning stages of designing an inventory db. One thing I'd like
the db to do is to automatically "withdraw" quantities once a week. We have
a spreadsheet of students that change every week and shows how many students
actually graduated each week. There are items that will be issued to each
weeks class so we know from the spreadsheet how much to deduct from
inventory. So,...

Why does Publisher substitute zeros for text when merging w/Excel
No matter how I format the cells (number, general, text) it keeps putting a 0
in wherever I have anything but a single number. Specifically, I'm trying to
print a label in Publisher ('03) using mail merge, with the data source being
an Excel table. Some of the cells in the data source contain two numbers (4
& 6, typed just like that). In Excel it shows up the way I want it, but when

Simple Design/1NF question
Dear NGs,
I recently downloaded and read a bunch of material on normalizing your
data and db design. Things aren't crystal clear yet! Part of the
problem is that nearly every thing I read used the same customer
invoice data as an example. I'm dealing with deer harvest data that
will never need updating (unlike customer data!). One nagging question
that I have deals with the 1NF ...

values from another table into my main data entry form. The other table has

form to be able to perform a calculation on the related value so if my
second table has values e.g.
