New user needs help!
trying to create ADP front end that will connect to company's SQL Server.
Need help in doing this since this is my first time.
1. Have an mdb form - would like to utilize it in ADP. I migrated the forms

the table have to be housed in SQL or can the form use a local table housed

SQL Rules
Dear friends:
I am a SQL developer known personally to most of the MVPs ( I have been one
for 5 years, and hope to be again soon). They know I am a proponent of the
superiority of SQL Server to Jet. This has been no secret for those 5
years.
My recent experience has trumped that to an incredible degree.
A client brought me an existing application that searched a large Jet table

ADP with multiple users
I have setup an ADP linked to SQL on the server. Here are a few simple
questions that I hope are no too basic for this newsgroup...
1) Each user must be running their own version of the ADP since it is the
front end. Hence, if 2 people try to open the same ADP file, one will get a
"read only" message. Is this correct?
2) When modifying the primary copy of the ADP, it is easy enough to...

How to update queries on BE with a new version of FE?
Hello,
After conversion of my MDB project to ADP/MSDE I ran into a following problem
- how to update changed views and procedures after releasing a new version of
FE?
While developing an MDB project I split FE and BE so I had only tables in BE
which made it possible to develop locally and then ship only a new version of
FE to my Customer that linked to Customers’ BE. Keeping the table st...

Permissions question
I don't understand a couple of things about permissions in ADP. I have a form
with a function as a record source. I gave only SELECT permissions to a role
directly on the table and both SELECT and INSERT permissions on the function.
When the user attempts to create a new record he gets an error saying INSERT
permmision denied at the table.
My understanding of this is that unless a specifi...

Many-to-many relationships via subform
Mainly because of fear of corruption of an .mdb in a multiuser
environment, I have been experimenting with the format of an .adp front
end to a SQL Server back end (using the Express version of SQL Server
2005).
Although it seems that the ADP option is perhaps going to be phased
out, I don't see many practical alternatives for a front end to the
otherwise esteemed SQL Server.
I've encou...

Parameterized queries
Hi, I am using ADO against an Sql Server 2000 backend. My problem is
I'm trying to use a dynamic sql query as part of an import csv process.
The final stage after matching field names, etc is to build a
parameterized query.
Unfortunatly when it comes to executing the command all I get is the
error "Must declare the variable @name". From what I could find it
seems that ADO will not support ...

Complicated Connection Problems bewteen ADP and SQL Server
About 3 years ago, I was told to create a SQL Server 2000 database for a
client of ours, and to set up an Access XP/2002 project (adp) front end that
would be used on their network to interact with the data. This database
needs to be updated every six months. Since there has been some "feature
creep" in the front end, I have almost always needed to install a new adp
front end on the 5-8 wor...

How to insert a New Line into a text field?
How do I insert a new line into an nvarchar field?
If I'm using Access, I can set the Enter key behavior for a text field to go
to a new line. When I look at the table data, it appears as new lines. If
I'm not using an Access form however to input the data (I want my VB code to
insert a new line and some text to the field), how do I do that?
Thanks,
