Can you set access to always open files read only
I have been asked to investigate whether it is possible to configure Access
so it only opens files read only.
In other words end users will be able to open there existing files but will
no longer be able to create new Access databases.
I think what the management are after is in effect an access viewer which I
do not believe exists. If anyone knows and options / registry settings etc

Any way to create a calendar
Hi;
I have a database that is used to rotate a monthly schedule of 30 people for
on call for a seven day period. Is there any way to create a report as a
calendar, showing the person who is on call for each 7 day period?

ascending order in 2 column report
I made a two-column report for my subform (one to many relationship). In the
page setup, i set the column layout as "Down, then across". The problem is
when i preview the report, it is still in one continuous column, the supposed
2nd column is on the 1st column of the 2nd page. also, is there a way to have

Print to pdf from Word using vba
I use an application that uses Automation to create a Word document from
within Access. After checking and possibly correcting the Word document, we
then print to a pdf file. Some of our computers have Acrobat Professional
7.0, while others have PrimoPDF. This process is acceptable except that we
have to go through so many manual steps.

URGENT: transferring data from multi-select list box to table

I have a multi-selection list box "medication" and "medication" table with
field column, customer ID and medication name. What I want is that when I

This maybe a repost.
How can I get my frontend to stop crashing? I have a server based frontend
that has multiple users inputing data into various fields at one time. I
Have locking code in place to limit users in the data entry areas.
The frontend corrupts from time to time and would like suggestions in ways

Allow or deny multiple instances of a db from a shortcut
My machine will not start multiple instances of a front end database
using just the db name. If I attempt to start the second instance from
a shortcut that uses only the path to the db, or by double-clicking it
in Windows Explorer, it does not start a second instance, it activates

Dear all,
I have more than 1000 rows in a database sheet, I like to color the rows
(not all the rows) - is there any way color the raws in between? when I click
"Fill/Back color" it applies to entire the sheet. (in Excel we can color the

how do i know who or where an e-mail comes from
Is there anyway I can find out where the persons e-mail address came from? I
received an e-mail which was quite disturbing from no-one i knew. And would
like to find out any information possible about the e-mail address. Can I
find out which country or location it came from or just anything would be

I have written a query that extracts inspection intervals in weeks from a
database. I now wish to represent these on a line chart with weeks 1 to 20 on
the y axis and with the inspection dates on the x axis.
I don't seem to be able to put a fixed set of numbers on the y axis.

My Db is bloated after linking an image as a background of a form
I have used the "Picture" section of the format tab to set the path of the
picture I want to use as a background for my form. My Db went from .482 kb to
10.724 kb(actual picture is just 90 kb). I also used "Compact & Repair"
without succes.
Why is my DB so bloated?
