SQL Server Migration Assistant...
Hello! Say, I'm in process of 'migrating' an Access 2003 DB to SQL Server 2005 using the SQL Server Migration Assistant for Access. I'm thinking of 'splitting' the DB in Access 2003. Under the 'instructions' (Adding and Removing Access Database Files) and under the part (What Happens When You Add Access Database Files? and under the Note: part - "An Access database can be ...."), it...

Nz function stopped working
Please help! What would cause the Nz function to stop working in a copy of Access 2003? I have a series of queries that worked previously, but today all returned a ton of "type conversion failures" and every numeric result off an Nz() returns the "Error#". I moved the database to a PC running Access 2002 and it works fine. Thanks in advance ...

Form/Report Controls Ribbon
This is going to be a cross between "I want his to be more like Visual Studio" and "I liked the old way better" post, but this is mainly where I am at. The controls toolbar in previous versions of Access was a direct parallel (very similar) to its sibling in Visual Studio. Less controls made it easy to dock on the left and have access to everything. Now, it's essentially been condense...

Navigation Pane: Objects View
The way that the objects view works on the navigation pane, to me, seems like a concept that still need work. It was bad enough (but acceptable as a natural consequence) when I have a database with many, many objects in Access 2002-2003 where I would sometimes need to expand the window to get all the columns and objects in a category to show on one screen. However, now there seems to be ...

It's a grade database that pulls on the form a grade from a marking period and I want each grade to autofill, on the form, a payment for that particular grade. For example A = $7.00 and B=$5.00, what type of box would I create to get this result? If you need more information please let me know. Thanks. Tim Eagle http://w...

Table like word ? Simple question
Hi I'm new to access and have designed a database for a customer. It is fine, only problem is that they want text fields to be possible to expand to second line like a table in word which they were used to. I don't know how to do this, when they hit enter it proceeds to the next field and not to a new line in the same field. He says that this should be possible. It is access 2003 ...

Database sharing issues ...
Looking for a little honest advice. I am about to share my database accross the company (approx 40/50 people). I have split the database up into front and back-ends and have applied user-level security. "New Record" methods (not Access "methods")
I'm having some trouble programmatically inserting a new record into a table. The table contains one indexed field of the type AutoNumber. I haven't discovered a syntax that will allow me to do the insert ...

this is probably very stupid, but I can't wrap my head around it
I have a number field in my table that I just can't seem to get it to accept a number with a decimal in it. When I type in 2.5 it automatically truncates it to 2. I have tried changing it to Fixed, and everything else, but even in fixed and with decimal places showing, if I type 2.5 it automatically sets it to 2.00. The reason this is burning my ass so much is that I have two other time/date...

Continuous form - Counting records based on criteria
Hi All, I have a continuous form, and need to count some records based on a date field. I need to put the counted total in the footer. I know I can use the COUNT function to count all records, but I need to count fields only when they meet certain criteria. (I.e. count all records where [Date] field is in the past.) It looks like the DCount function allows 'WHERE' criteria, but the ...
