pink xml fields missing now

Also posted this to the word.vba.general

The following link give an understanding of what I am doing: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/WordXMLCDK/html/cdktXSLTInferenceSeedDocument_HV01141472.asp

The question is not necessarily how to do this but why something happens
along this process.

if I take my data.xml file and open it in word without a transform I can see
the pink tags. Then I manipulate that and add tables and graphics etc.
I then save that as a new file XSLtemplate.xml

With the XSLtemplate.xml file still open in word I save it again as
XSLtemplate2.xml for troubleshooting purposes. Now the currently open doc is
XSLtemplate2.xml

I open XSLtemplate.xml in another word window. It is still the same as
XSLtemplate2.xml with the pink xml datafields etc.

I now close XSLtemplate2.xml and run the wml2xslt.exe on XSLtemplate2.xml to
convert it to an xsl file. two warnings but no big deal. I get the .xsl file
that I need and I can then do the open data.xml with transform and get the
output that I want.

The problem now I still have XSLtemplate.xml open and it still shows the
pink fields etc. BUT when I open XSLtemplate2.xml in word it doesn't have the
pink tags any more. I can even close XSLtemplate2.xml and then save
XSLtempate.xml that still has the tags showing as XSLtemplate2.xml and then
re-save it as XSLtemplate.xml hopping to restore the pink tags to
XSLtemplate2.xml.

Now that I resaved it as XSLtemplate.xml I can open XSLtemplate2.xml in a
new window and it still is missing the pink tags.

Can anyone tell me what is going on here?

Thanks

Hi =?Utf-8?B?bmF0ZQ==?=,

I'm not certain I'm following 100% but...

If a transform is being executed when a document is opened (it's linked to a
schema + solution (transform) loaded in the schema library) that transform will
be applied automatically. So you won't see the tags.

If you display the XML-Structure task pane, you should be able to force display
of the tags by clicking the checkbox underneath the first list?

Maybe the quick answer is
cntrl + shift + X
that toggles xml field tags...

Ultimatly there is something I don't get about why it shows them in the
merged result initially but then doesn't on subsequent opens. I will have to
think this question over more to post a more clear question.
