Send to Onenote 2007 not working
Areef 18.09.2006 15:16:02
I have been a big user of the send to onenote 2007 feature. I recently
installed the B2TR and this feature no longer works.

One of two things happens
In Firefox or Acrobat 7 professional the application crashes as it tries to
print the document.

In other applications (word) it will create a new page in onenote (in the
appropriate place) but will no place anything on that page.

I have tried to repair my onenote installation but have had no success.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

To recap: You had OneNote 2007 Beta 2 installed and then patched it to
B2TR?
What Windows are you using? XP, Vista? If Vista, which build?

I am having the same problem.

I've been using Beta 2 with XP Tablet on a Motion LE1600 since the Beta came
out without any problems.

I installed B2TR and have lost the ability to send to One Note. Just tried
a Word 2007 doc and the printer was not offered as a choice.

Help! This is a real handcuff.

I just tried it in Acrobat 7.0 pro and Word 2003 and it worked fine in
both for me. So it is not necessarily an overall bug.

That is correct. Onenote beta 2 then patched to B2TR. I am running windows
xp.

Also for clarification, previously when trying to print to the "send to
onenote 2007" driver I would be able to modify the properties of the print
job (ie MDI compress or not, or Tiff), but with the upgrade this feature is
also missing. All I can change is the paper size - not sure if this is
related through.

I am able to use the send to onenote Icon in IE 7 (beta) without
difficulties.

Thanks

Re: Send to Onenote 2007 not working
Areef 18.09.2006 22:10:02

The application that crashes is the one I am trying to print from (acrobat
or firefox).

I have tried both ways with onenote closed or open - there is no difference
(if it is closed it does not open in response to the print).

I tried change the location of the print to fixed location, current
location, new page in current section - no difference.

The other thing I have noticed is that I cannot go into onenote and using
the insert file from printout. If the file I am trying to insert is a pdf -
it states that it cannot be inserted and that I have to have a program that
can open and print this type of file; however if I insert it as a link then
double click on the link it will open the pdf in acrobat.

If I try the insert as print out with a word document - it will open word
and initiate the printing process then I get a run time error (-2147417848
(80010108) Automation error) - then word crashes.

Thanks for your help

Don't have Firefox.
But printing from Acrobat does not cause a problem on my side.
Both Acrobat Reader and Acrobat Professional 7 pint into ON B2TR
without a problem.

Different on my side too. Does not work, but differnt error:
When trying to import a PDF with "Insert | File" I get an
error-message:
"The OneNote printer driver has not been installed properly.
Chnge to the menu Help and select "Office Diagnostics to repair the
install"
(my translation from German).

Inserting other file as printout (f.e. JPG) wokrd fine.

In addition:
Inserting a PDF by drag+drop now only offers *2* options (instead of
3). Only insert a link or a copy is offered. Insert as a printoiut is
missing from the dialog box.
Really bad.

I seem to have a problem of this type with the plugin for Outlook. While
Outlook does not crash, I have started to have problems with Outlook since
installing OneNote 2007 beta2 (without TR). I am on XP Pro SP2, Outlook 2003
SP2. Any ideas as to what to do? ... anyone else in this boat?

Did you try it with the PDF-maker plug-in too?
(I can not test it anymore as I was dumb enough to switch to Word 2007
[siiiiigh].
Using the PDF-maker was one of the most needed features at all ...)

Areef, could you go to the registry and tell me the value for this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\OneNote\MDI writer

This may help us to repro this bug. Thanks

Alex,

I'm not sure which key you are looking for. I am in the following directory:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\OneNote\MDI writer
and all I see are the following things:
default
Compimgemf
defaultfolder
openinmodi
privateflags
public_orientation
Public_papersize
Regversion
TIFDPI
Wordnoprompt

Also if I go one level up to the onenote directory there is no key for MDI
writer

nojgrant,

Nope I haven't yet been able to fix this issue.

I have tried totally removing office 2007 and then doing a fresh install -
but not help. It seems to work fine prior to installing the TR. I'm
thinking of rolling back to B2.

We have a bug tracking this now. From that bug:

Areef:
I already tried rolling back to B2, but any sections that you have opened
with the TR have been converted, so you can't open them with B2. So as far
as I can tell, the choice is either go back to B2--losing access to prior
documents but being able to create new ones--or sticking with TR and having
the inverse of that. Good luck--this really is a pain.
