Specific question about Oulook/Exchange setup
Sava Jurisic 28.09.2006 04:46:02
Hi ALL,

Business Requirements:

1. For the sake of argument and to protect the innocent, we will assume that
the name of the company is ACME and their corresponding domain is acme.com

2. Each employee needs to have an e-mail address such as john.smith[ at ]acme.com

3. Employees need to send/receive e-mails to/from customers on the Internet.

4. Customers can also send e-mails to a general address: acme[ at ]acme.com

5. Some designated employees need to review the messages addressed to
acme[ at ]acme.com and respond to them either from their own e-mail address (
john.smith[ at ]acme.com ) or from the general ( acme[ at ]acme.com ) address.

Current Status:

1. SBS 2003 is installed.
2. Each employee has a user account and a corresponding e-mail address (
john.smith[ at ]acme.com )
3. An additional user called ACME was created with a corresponding e-mail
address ( acme[ at ]acme.com )
4. All users use Outlook 2003 as mail client and have an Exchange connection
to their corresponding mailbox ( john.smith[ at ]acme.com )
5. Designated users have additional IMAP connection to the ACME mailbox (
acme[ at ]acme.com ) on the same SBS server. In these cases, the personal account
( john.smith[ at ]acme.com ) is the default account. Those users MUST see both
accounts (personal and general) in one screen;

Problem Description:

Messages sent from the IMAP ACME account are being saved in the Sent folder
of the personal ( john.smith[ at ]acme.com ) account, instead of being saved in
the Sent folder of the IMAP ACME account.

What do we need:

Messages sent from the IMAP ACME account should be saved in the Sent folder
of the IMAP ACME account ( acme[ at ]acme.com ).

IMAP is not requirement; We just kept using the same structure as it was
before an upgrade from iMail to Exchange;

Question:

1. How to configure Outlook to save sent messages in the appropriate Sent
folders corresponding to the account the message was sent from (john.smith or
acme)?

Many, many thanks for your help.

You create rules to move the outgoing messages to the proper forlders based
on sending account. I believe Outlook 2007 will be able to handle the issue
without rules.

Hi Brian,

YES, we tried that, but the problem IS that you can not MOVE messaqe, you
can ONLY COPY;

therefore, everytime you run the rule, there are double, triple ...etc
messages in acme[ at ]acme.com Sent folder;

:(

Thanks,
Sava

Untrue. If that's what you see then you have incorrect settings.
