FAQ = Frequently Asked Questions - unofficial - proofing
This FAQ is posted every ten days or so.
Please save yourself some time by reading it before posting to the
news group.
--- BEFORE POSTING ANYTHING PLEASE READ THESE ---

Reading these articles will help you get a quick and meaningful
response to your question rather than just more questions for you.
It may keep your message from being screened or bounced.
A few basics, in case you decide you can skip that article:
(1) Be nice; everyone answering questions here is a volunteer.
(2) Post a question in only one newsgroup generally. If you
_have to_ post in more than one, post a _single_ message and
put both newsgroups in the header for that _single_ message.
(3) Do not attach anything to a message.
(4) The only really stupid question is the one you don't ask.
(5) Do not use your real email address unless you enjoy spam. (See
bottom for sample.)
The reasons for the requests are spelled out on the web pages.

10. Spell-Check isn't working even though I have it turned on.
Your text may be marked (formatted) to not check spelling
or grammar. Try selecting the entire document (Ctrl-A) and
under Tools > Language > Set Language, uncheck the option
to not check spelling or grammar.
http://homepage.swissonline.ch/cindymeister/LangFmt.htm
http://officearticles.com/word/spell_check_doesnt_work_in_microsoft_word.htm
(should all be on one line)
11. How can I spell-check mailmerge fields? By default, you can't.
They are marked to not be checked in the language setting.
You can change this setting for individual fields. A better
solution may be to check the data source instead.
12. I would like a list of all words in a document marked as
spelling errors by Word. Can I do this?
http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/List_Spelling_Errors.htm
13. How can I get the Spell Checker to pick up words previously
