If other documents will print, then it sounds like you have a document corruption. Unless your printer is seriously old, the driver and buffer should be designed to handle long documents.
Try --
1. Converting to PDF and printing that.
2. SaveAs under a new name.
3. Select the first dozen or so pages, copy to a new document, and see if that will print.
