In French ":" becomes " :"

Hello,

When I type in Word a ":" and my language is set on French, then Word
automatically sets a space before ":"

Is there anyone who can help me to disable this option?

Thanks,
Ruben

I believe you have to turn off the "Smart Quotes" option in
Tools/Autocorrect options/AutoFormat As You Type.

Hi Cindy,

For my information, I checked your suggestion and surprisingly, it
works! I mean, surprisingly since I fail to see the connection between
smart quotes, except being French language related.

I guess the OP has his reasons for wanting this. AFAIK, the Swiss flavor
of French (and may be some others) does not want those spaces (which are
the rule in Continental French) which are giving me a hard time in a
different way (thread "Distinguishing hard spaces from regular spaces"
in vba.general).

Best regards
