Cannot re-install
Basketball 1 25.09.2006 20:46:02
I did install Office 2007 Beta. It was working fine. I then downlaoded the
Beta2 upgrade & installed it. There was a conflict with my version of Norton
Internet Security 2006. My virus updates were current, but I would get
warnings when opening Excel & could not open any files. So I uninstalled
Office 2007 to rid myself of the beta2 upgrade. I then tried re-installing
the original Office 2007 beta. I cannot get it to re-install. It will go as
far as the screen where I accept the terms of agreement after entering the
product code, select customize from the following screen (although choosing
upgrade makes no difference), choose to keep all applications except
(naturally) Outlook, the starting installation screen comes up & then I get
an error message which reads as follows:
Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 (Beta) setup did not complete
succussfully. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
An error occurred during the installation, and Microsoft Office Professional
Plus 2007 (Beta) setup was unable to complete. Please tell Microsoft about
this problem.
Then the standard "Send Error Report" and "Don't Send" buttons. I have sent
the error report three times.

After uninstalling, I have deleted the Office 12 folder, and the entries in
the registry under Software in both Current User, & Local Machine.

Where do I go from now?

In case it's there, did you run Windows INstaller Cleanup Utility (even
though it's beta)?
Also what about the remnants under C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Application Data\.....,
C:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]\Application Data\....,C:\Program
Files\Common Files\....?

Also there are great many other modifications in the registry other than you
reported ... did you get all the HKLM\CLSID's, HKLM\Typelib's,
HKLM\Interface's, ....?
