OneNote 2007 & Serial Number
Kurt S 24.08.2006 21:27:05
A couple of months ago i downloaded and installed the Beta 2 version of
OneNote. All was going well until my hard drive went south and I had to
reload my OS and applications.

Now to my surprise, OneNote 2007 is asking for a serial number. I never
recieved a serial number and didn't need it the first time I installed the
program. The best part is I converted all my OneNote data files to the new
version so I can't use them with the old version. We are going to be
purchasing Office 2007 when it's finally released but this doesn't do me much
good for now. I'm not real happy with Microsoft at this point.

Kurt, I hate to have to ask you to do this, but I think the quickest way to
get a new key is to go back to the Beta2 website and re-register. you'll have
to pay $1.50, which sucks, but it will be the fastest way to go. Please let
me know how it goes. -Alex

Yes, I was thinking that as well. $1.50 isn't bad so I'll probably do this
tonight when I get home. Thanks for your reply Alex.

There was indeed a 25-character PID which was required when any of the
2007 Beta products were installed.

Can you possibly check through your email archives to see if any messages
received from the registration process are still available and might
contain that PID?

Well now I really feel like a dolt. When I re-installed ON and it asked for a
key, I did check my inbox for an e-mail from Microsoft but the only message I
saw was the one saying thank you for trying ON. Afer reading Erik's reply I
went and looked in my sent mail folder to see if I sent the key home and sure
enough, there it was. Thank you Erik.

You're welcome. Don't spend that $1.50 now lining your pocket all in one
place ;)
