Trouble linking to ODCB through MS Access
"yacein" <yacein[ at ]googlemail.com> 14.09.2006 12:27:17
Hello
I'm a newbie with what I hope is a simple problem: I trying to get data
into Access through ODCB (ultimately to connect to MySQL) but when I
select "ODCB Databases" as the file type (after choosing "Link
Tables..." or "Import.." under "Get External Data") the dialogue box
simply quits.

The only clue I can find is that in all that I've read on the internet,
the file type is quoted as "ODCB Databases()" whereas I only have "ODCB
Databases" as a choice.

Does anyone have any idea why this mnight be - something I've set up
incorrectly in Access perhaps? I tested and I can successfully import
data from MySQL via ODCB into Excel.

I'm running Access 2003 SP2.

Forgive me if I've posted this in the wrong place - I just found this
on Google.

Thanks

Yacein

You are sure you have the Access SP installed?

You need the newest MySQL driver, eventually you also need to update
MDAC/Jet.

This is often a problem with the Office Plug-In of Norton Antivirus 2006.
If you have NAV2006, you can try deactivating the Office Plug-In.

Aaaah amazing that's done it - it is Norton.
Thank you both for your help!
Cheers
