How to Remove Applications Distributed w/Access 2003 Developer Ext wstandis 25.09.2006 19:46:01 have developed an application in access for one of my clients. I used the Access 2003 Developer Extensions to package and distribute a runtime version. He lost his install cd and now he can not uninstall the application. When he tries to go through the control panel it is asking him for the cd. I tried sending him a new cd but that did not work. Is there a clean way for him to uninstall? With disk space the way it is today, you could also just forget about it, or delete the program directory were your appcation was installed. You could also delete the directory where the runtime installed to. Further, I always make a separate runtime install then that of your application. (kind of dumb to send a user a zipped mde file that is only a few megs in size, and TIE IT to a large runtime). If you package the runtime without your mde file, then they DO NOT need the original install disk to delete the runtime. This is a much better approach then tying your application to the runtime. Also, that disk that you sent that person, did they try and install it, and THEN do a un-install? (that might work also). So, try making a complete new different runtime install, and install that. Then try un-installing it..... And, I will not give you some lame advice about keeping copies of software that you send to clients, but what do you if they ask you for a replacement disk and you don't have it? I think I would just have them delete the directory where your software is, that might suffice depending on the situation... -- Albert D. What happens if you send 3 different installs for 3 different access programs. When you un-install ONE of them, how will it know to un-install the runtime that all 3 share???
