Printing problem
"John" <John[ at ]nospam.infovis.co.uk> 17.08.2006 13:25:36
Hi

Access 2000 sp3. We print a report on OKI 3391 ML (actually using the Epson
LQ-1050 driver) with a custom form size. Recently we re-did the dell pc that
the printer is connected to using the original win xp disk that came with
the pc. Since then the report printing has developed the following problem;

The report prints parts of report text double i.e. it prints over twice some
portions of the text but not all text. The portions of text that prints
twice do not seem to have any thing common except they all lie towards the
right of the report even though not exactly aligned. The access app used for
printing is the same as before the problem occurred so it is not likely to
be the cause. I have reinstalled the access 2000 and sp3 as part of redoing
the pc though. Could this be the problem? There is outlook 2003 on the same
pc as well.

Could anyone please advise as to what could be the reason for these problems
and any possible fix?

Thanks

Regards

AFAIK, Access doesn't add anything to the "plumbing": it strictly uses the
Windows Print driver. Are you having problems printing from other
applications as well? Have you checked that you've got the most up-to-date
version of the driver?

From other apps and DOS it prints fine. This is the big mystery. The Epson
LQ-1050 driver is from the win xp disk accompanying the pc. I don't think
Epson provide win xp driver separately.

The printer driver found at
http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=14323&infoType=Downloads&platform=All
might be newer 05/30/03. Or might not.

No, I couldn't see one there either.

Hmm, but when I visit http://www.okidata.com/mkt/html/nf/Drivers.html
I don't see the 3391 printer mentioned.

Ah, ok. That makes sense then.

So what happens when you try that driver?

The only win xp driver for Epson lq-1050 that I know (we are using the oki
in lq-1050 compatibility mode) comes on the win xp cd. It installs fine.

Why not use the 3391 driver that you can download?
