For some reason, two sets of page numbers show up on the printed version of my presentation.
The presentation and the template used to create this presentation only has one page number field that is located on the bottom right corner of the slide. When printing, a second set of page numbers in the format of "PAGE #" shows up at the bottom of the slide towards the center.
I've tried to fix this problem but I can't seem to find where the second set of page numbers are coming from. I've looked in header/footer function, master slides, and even in the options are during print preview.
I would really appreciate any assistance or advice regarding how I could remove the second set of page numbers.
Thanks

Imasaf, The only way I can reproduce that behaviour here is by copying the numbering box on the master. Are you sure you do not have two numbering boxes on the master.

Imasaf, You are sure there is no footer typed in the header and footer dialog. View - header and footer - next to footer text? If there is a text like Page # there it would appear on every slide. But then again that wouldn't show up as an actual number just as text. I'm confused to what is happening here.

Obviously we are stabbing in the dark here.
Does the second number ONLY show when printed?
Is it possible that there is a footer Page '#' on the master? If its invisible it could be white/background coloured text, See if you can see it in on the master if you choose view > color/greyscale> black & white --

Hi Luc,
I went to the template and deleted the background image, the text boxes, and all of the other fields and I still cannot locate a second set of page numbering field. What I did try out was to recreate the template from scratch and that seems to fix the problem. I'm not sure why I still can't find the second page number field in my original powerpoint template.

Imasaf,
You need to look in these two places (or three!)
View menu > master > slide master
Do you see a text box with the hash symbol in it (#)? This tells powerpoint to replace the hash with a number during a slideshow or when printing.
Repeat this for view menu > master > notes master view menu > master > handouts master

Sounds like the extra page number is in a color that is the same as your page background. It won't show up when you project it, but it will show up when you print in black and white.
The easy fix is to view your slide in Pure Black and White so you can spot it and delete it.
