Spellchecker not working in word/outlook etc.
ajja[ at ]btinternet.com 27.08.2006 17:35:18
Hi,

I've just installed Micorsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 on my
PC. For some reason the spellcheck function is not working as it
should.

I have set my language as English (UK) in the MS office 2003 settings.

For some reason when I check my language in word it in the list it
shows three languages in the list above the line; English (US), English
(UK), and Welsh. I have set it to default to English UK. The Welsh
line is always the one marked in blue when I look at this option. I
have nothing against the Welsh, but I would like my machine to work in
English.......

The only way I have been able to get it to work at all was when I
selected English (UK) within word as default language and unchecked the
detect language automatically.

Has anyone got any ideas of how I can convince my machine that I do not
speak Welsh and get it to work in English?

Having read some of the topics on here it's worth stating that word
docs have been viewed previous to this intall using wordpad, and that
no word documents from any source other than this machine have been
used on this PC with Microsoft Word.

Try setting both the keyboard language and the Office default language
as described at

I had already done all that and ended up taking the software off, and
re-installing it. It now works fine, but does not explain how it
seemed to think I was Welsh the first time round.

Now got it working in English (UK) as required.

Thanks anyway Jay.
