A Bug or a planned feature??
tim.leh[ at ]gmail.com 30.08.2006 17:05:04
Hello,

When I use Microsoft Excel --> Import External Data --> New Database
Query --> Excel Files*, I find out Excel doesn't work or doesn't work
correctly if the file name (Path+Name) exceeds 69 characters long.

I'm using Microsoft Office 2003. Has anyone experienced the same issue?
Has there a patch to fix this if this is a bug?

Currently, I have to tell my users to move/rename all their folder/file
names to make sure they're less than 70 characters in length.

Thank you much..

Okay, so I assumed it was a bug. I called the number listed on
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/contactbug. I was asked to pay $83 to
open a case number. I was transferred to a Microsoft Office specialist
who later transferred me to an Excel specialist. After talking to the
Excel specialist, I was told this is a "LIMITATION" of the product and
he would raise this issue for the research team and to professional
level to look into it.

I'm speechless.....
