"get external data" function
Saxy 25.07.2006 02:21:01
The "get external data" option disappears when i open a particular database.
Is this something that is written into the database? (ie. to prevent people
from importing data). if so, can it be removed? if not, what could be causing
this? I have full read write acces to the database and can enter data
manually without a problem.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Saxy,

The author of the database could well have removed the "Get External
Data" option from the File menu. Read up in Help on customizing toolbars
(the menu bar is just a special toolbar) and you should be able to
restore it.

Warning: the author may have had a good reason for removing the command.
Work on a spare copy of the database, and after you've restored the
command test thoroughly to make certain there are no bad side-effects of
importing data _before_ you rely on it!
