What format is selected as the default on the Save tab of Tools | Options?

It says 97 but doesn't even show 2003, how could this be? The program is
running 2003

On the Save tab of Tools | Options choose "Word Document" as the default
format. This phrase always represents the current version.

I'm not sure what you mean, Word 97-2003 uses the same file format so
there is no difference. Can you provide more details on what is
happening exactly??

Yes I know. I have documents that I have been working on for months that
include pictures and word art, and lately when I go to save it brings up a
message saying that "Some of the featues in this document aren't supported by
Microsoft Word 97" and "Nested table cells will be lost. Cell contents will
be seperated by tabs. Text color will become the nearest supported color".
Why is this coming up?

Because you have checked "Disable features introduced after Microsoft Word
97" on the Save tab of Tools | Options. This is a per-document setting, I
believe.

Uncheck the box in the save options to disable features not compatible with
Word 97.

Ah! Thanks for the full message - that's always helpful. :-)

To correct this issue go to Tools/Options/Save and turn off "Disable
features introduced after Word 97". While the file formats are the
same there are a few features, such as nested tables and additional
font colors, that weren't available in Word 97.
