remove bad words from dictionary
P D Sterling <pdsterling[ at ]hotmail.com> 21.07.2006 19:10:09
Somehow, my Word dictionary thinks "Oaklahoma`" is a word. I have
checked the custom.dic file, and learned from help how to make an .exc
file, but I am very interested in a global search to remove "`" or any
other thing that upsets my applecart. Any advice would be gratefully
appreciated.

You can't edit Word's main dictionary. No ifs, ands or buts.

The accent character isn't considered part of a word; it's treated more
like punctuation. So spell check isn't ever going to catch this.

However, it should mark Oaklahoma as incorrect, as the state should be
spelled: Oklahoma. If it's really not catching Oaklahoma, then you should
check whether you haven't additional *.dic files on your system.
