problem with the COM library reference
shawn 30.07.2006 16:11:02
I am following the code example presented here_>
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316383/en-us

but I have a problem. It instructs me to reference the Microsoft Word
Object Library. I cant find it in the COM references. I am using Microsoft
Office Standard edition for students and teachers on this machine and the
closest COM refence I can find is the Microsoft Office 11.0 Object library.

When I add the code from the sample mentioned above I get the following
error: C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\Visual Studio
Projects\Horizons Without Boundries\Form2.vb(1): Namespace or type 'Word' for
the Imports 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word' cannot be found.

I know there is a simple solution to this problem, but i would appreciate
some insight into it

I would suggest that you post to one of the microsoft.public.dotnet
newsgroups.

Not many of the people that frequent these newsgroups are into dotnet.

Hi Shawn,

Your certain Word is installed? Can you open Word and press Alt+F11 to go into
the VBA Editor?

If you can, in Tools/References to you see the Microsoft applications listed
(Excel and Powerpoint, for example)?

Was the .NET Framework already installed on your machine when you installed
Office? Did you explicitly install the PIAs when you installed Office?
