Fractions style in Word 2002

What settings do I need to tweak in order to get fractions to look like this
< ½ > instead of like this < 4 > ?

I'm running XP Home and Word 2002.

Sorry! The post did not print the vertical fraction properly. I would like
for all my fraction to appear in Word Docs as diagonal instead of vertical.
What I'm getting presently in Word is all vertical fractions.

(Note: For some reason fractions are appearing diagonal in OE, but vertical
in Word.)

Thanks for the FAQs link Jay. It was just what I needed. I also inserted
the link in my "Word Fixes" Folder.
