Email hyperlink opens dozens of IE windows.

Running Windows XP, Office Outlook is default mail. When clicking on an
email hyperlink on a web page, Outlook doesn't open, but instead over 50 to
60 IE windows open, but don't connect to anything. Has happened even after
full virus scan, spyware scans. Any ideas?

A shot in the dark, but try this: In IE, click Tools>Internet
Options>Programs>Reset Web Settings.

I'm having the exact same problem only this is occured in Word. No problem
with hyperlink to a webpage - only occurs when clicking on email hyperlink.
Were you able to find a solution?

I'm getting close to the root of the problem. But because the problem is on a
friends computer, I won't be able to look at it for another few weeks. As
soon as I resolve the problem I will let you know. If you want check what I
have found out up until now under
Internet Explorer 6/General
"e-mail hyperlink in Word opens over 50 IE windows"
If you do find the solution after seeing what I have found out, I would
appreciate hearing about it.
Thanks.
