noob question pls help with proof of concept

I have a vb.net2005 web service I created with some basic functions. I have
it pass me a string and return something back. works fine.
I created an infopath form with ip03sp1 and mapped to the web service. I
can submit a string to the web method and display the return. so far so
good.

now the boss wants to see how the form works when the web service is
unavailable (like a user is on the road or the server is down, etc.) I've
read that IP can do this and it is supposed to be a great feature, but I
cannot figure out how to invoke it.

does anyone have a nice walkthru or something on that? I need to know, do I
have to add code to the vb05.net web service to handle this? how about to
the IP form? I could use a guided tour, I'm fairly new to all of this but
trying to muddle my way thru. I figured out how to do the web service and
initial IP form all on my own.

thanks in advance for your help.
