Hi,
I have purchased a HP Photosmart 7830 printer last week. I have an Excel file that has 18 Worksheets. If I print just 1 worksheet then the print quality is excellent. If I try and print 2 or more worksheets then the printer seems to produce the prints in Draft quality, the colours are very dull and print speed is extremely fast. Instead of taking about 10-20 seconds to produce the normal print, it does it in between 5-10 seconds. HP support seem to think that it may be a Excel software issue, as they asked me to print a multiple page Word file and that was fine.
HP support told me that this is a know bug and that a software download from Microsoft is available to fix this.
Anybody able to steer me in the right direction or offer ideas?
Thanks Harry

Hate to push this back to HP, but that photosmart printer, and it's associated driver was produced way after XL2003. Excel interfaces with the print drivers, but if there is an issue with this printer, how could Excel have known about it as it was on the streets before it was born. If you understand what I mean.
It's a bit like saying those lamps won't fit my car, when the plug for accessories in the car are bullet connectors and the new lamps now have spade???

Hi,
The problem has worsened, in that all print jobs from Excel are now of poor quality. Colour prints from Word and PDF docs are OK, so I am thinking this is maybe a problem with my Excel. I tried a detect and repair on my office installation but that hasn't fixed it.
I'm thinking of doing a re-install of Office. I have Office Professional 2003. Should I try that, and if I did do that will that mean I have to set-up my email accounts again in Outlook after the re-install?
Cheers Harry

You can try a re-install, I don't think it will make any difference. It is the interaction between Excel and the print driver, unlikely Excel itself. If you un-install before re-installing, then yes, you will lose all settings and email accounts.
Before you do this, try un-installing the print drivers and then re-install a very basic one, say HP550 from the Windows XP CD. If that then works, it is likely the driver, as I suspect
