access 2003 relationships

Is there a way to establish a relationship between a table in one database
with a table in another database? Tried query with <path>[field] but it was
not recognized.

This may not be the 'right' way, but couldnt you make a linked table then
make the relationship with the linked one?

I'll give it a try and let you know how it turns out.

Paul,

I tried the link function using the macro steps. I was asked for the
complete path of the tables I wished to link. Unfortunately the database
file type is an Access application not a directory of .dbf tables. The error
message is that it cannot find the database without the database directory
name and I can't see how to expand the database to show the various
files/directories it contains. The helps don't provide a clue.

maybe I'm confused, it has been known to happen...

If I'm in access looking at the list of tables, I select the new button at
top, one of my options on the right is Link Table. If I select link it
takes me to a Link dialog box asking for an .mdb file. I can select an .mdb
then it gives me a dialog showing the available tables. I pick the table I
want to link and now that table is in my current .mdb file, linked to the
other file. If I change data in either one, both are updated. Once I have
the linked table, I can then use it in queries, relations, etc from the
current mdb

No, there isn't.

Think about it for a moment. How could you guarantee that both databases
will always be accessible at the same time?
