log on screen in Access?
Maria needs help 14.07.2006 15:58:02
For a reason unknown to me, Access now requires me to log in before doing
anything. I did not set up any permissions and I am the only one using the
program (on a personal computer). I cannot do anything at all... cannot
create a new file, cannot open a template... nothing. Everything requires a
log in which I do not have. I have even uninstalled and clean installed the
program to try to fix it and that did not work either. Can someone please
help me access my Access??

update your Anti-virus signatures and anti-spyware and run a deep scan. You
might be infected.

What version of Access? I'm assuming 2000 or 2002 or 2003.

Is it prompting for a username and password or just a password? I'm
assuming the former.

Do a search on your computer (Start, Search) for *.mdw.

Whatever ones you find, rename them eg. system.mdw change to system1.mdw.

Now open Access and see if you can open anything.

I do not understand what you mean by "signatures" but my settings and various
definitions are up to date and I have run system wide scans for both. They
come up clean. Access is the only problem; might it be a program conflict?

That worked. Thank you so much! Can you tell me why that would have happened
so I better understand the problem for future reference?

The only thing I can think of is that you recently installed some software
that changed your default workgroup file to a different one.
