Access 97 Upgrade Installation problem
Wendy 10.07.2006 14:07:02
I am trying to install this software on my newest computer. It already has
MS Office installed but Access doesn't recognize the WINWORD exe file nor any
of the other Office files I have pointed it to. I have inserted the original
CD for Office 2003 and Office 97 and pointed to those folders ...... nothing
is working.

How can I get past this so I can restore my database application for use on
this new computer??

still seeking some help with this. I know there's a little trick, but no
longer remember what it is. I even tried to point back to the Access install
CD. Maybe it I try to copy the executable off the CD onto the hard drive
some place, and then point to IT?

The only way that Access 97 Upgrade will install is if you have any of the
qualifying products installed (they should be listed on the package).

Neither Office 97 nor Office 2003 are qualifying products for the upgrade
version.

Thank you. I had read the words, "any version of Office" to mean exactly
that. But I finally remembered the trick which someone else had suggested a
couple years ago..... copy the Access exe from the CD over to the Office
folder on the hard drive. The install process sees it, accepts it, and
allows the upgrade installation to continue. Did that a few minutes ago
with success and can now open my database once again..... have a great
week!
