Can't reinstall Office (11) 2007

Keep getting message: MS Setup Bootstrapper has encountered a problem & needs
to close.
Event Viewer: Event ID 1000...Faulting application: setup.exe,
v12.0.4017.1005, Faulting module: ntdll.dll, v5.1.2600.2180, Fault address:
0x00001010.
Further info (via VCOM Fix-It Error Tracker): Process name: E:\SETUP.EXE,
Module description: System generated, Module name: ditto, Dialog caption:
ditto, Dialog text: The instruction at 0x7C901010 tried to access memory at
0x000019B4, the read failed.
(I'm no computer expert.)

After literally weeks & weeks of travail, finally found a solution to the
above problem [ at ] The Elder Geek on Windows XP. It's, quite simply, 'Uninstall
Programs Manually.' At least it worked for me. Was able to, finally,
successfully reinstall Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 (Beta). Here's
the link for anybody with the same (or similar) problem:
