Problem with installing Windows 10
P D Sterling <pdsterling[ at ]hotmail.com> 15.07.2006 17:15:38
After a fateful disk crash, I had to start life anew with a new hard
drive, Windows Home SP2, and Office 10. Each was duly installed.
However, the first time I opened Excel, I had to reinsert the disk and
have it do some mumbo-jumbo. The first time I opened Word, same.

I forgot about that. Today, I went to open Access, and the same thing,
only now it has fatal errors. I totally do not understand how installing
software is not the same as installing and using the software.

I don't use Access that much, but I would like it to work without giving
problems. Errors are "Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft
Office XP Professional with Front Page", then "error 1305 . . . can't
find msdds.dll" The stupid error windows will not let me copy the text,
nor with the suckers stay open while I am typing this!?!

Any assistance would be gratefully appreciated.

"have it do some mumbo-jumbo" isn't much help. Are these original CDs? Did
you fully patch your Windows version before you started installing Office?

I apologize for using technical language not applicable to this
situation. the translation of mumbo-jumbo is:

"Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office XP Professional
with Front Page"

"error 1305 . . . can't find msdds.dll"

The stupid error windows will not let me copy the text, or I would be
much more specific.

There are the original CDs. I am not familiar with the term "fully
patch". pls adv

tks.
