Connecting programs
MimiSD 11.07.2006 15:29:02
I have created a database that works somewhat like a timer that is going to
be used to track the productivity of some employees. Right now the only I
can make it work is if the employee clicks a start and stop button but that
will interfere with their process so if i can avoid them having to do any
extra clicking that would be great. The employees currently work with
Envision. Is there anyway that I could have the timer start when the call
that they are monitoring through envision starts and have it stop when an
email is sent out? I am open to any other suggestions also that would keep
the employees from having to do too many extra clicks one would be fine but
having multiple gets bothersome.

Dear MimiSD:

It sounds like you're trying to capture data from a telephone/System or
switch that is located in your building. If so, is there a serial port
on the back of the Switch or phone system that you are using. Even
though Access is a great development tool, you're re-inventing the wheel
again with this one. There are many application that are available that
will use the data that comes out of the serial port ie(CDA Call Center
Analyzer) that will come out of the phone system that you can use to
analyze the information and put that together with the information from
your exchange server. You would be able to analyze all that information
in MS Access, then you wouldn't have to bother the employees with
clicking on customer timer applications so that you can keep track of
when and what they are doing. You let the phone system and the exchange
server collect the information and then you develop a way to merge the
data together to come up with the answer that you seek.

Hope that helps,

Joe P.

I am working with a telephone system but the part i am developing this
database for is not for employees that are taking phone calls it is for the
people monitoring the phone calls. So they are not directly connected to the
phone system.
