Calling card problems
bobster99[ at ]hotmail.com 06.07.2006 13:36:54
My calling card isn't one of the pre installed cards in Win XP Media
Edition.

I have made up my own rules and it wont wait for the prompt to end or
add in a delay to wait to dial the number.

It dials the card number fine but dials the fax number just a couple of
seconds later.

Arrrgh!

I have tried everything i can think of what am I missing

You haven't posted any information that would even permit us to hazard a
guess.
I assume you used the correct fax number format to invoke your rule?

I don't need a pin or anything to use the card. I just have to dial
the 800 number, listen to 15 seconds of adversitement from Sam's Club
and then dial the fax number.

The dialing rules I have programed are simple.
Dial the phone card 800 number (this works fine)
Wait for voice prompt to end (It doesn't do this)
Dial Fax Number

The dialer dials the 800 number, hears the voice prompt and then tells
me that the number is busy.

As a work around I asked the dialer to wait 12 seconds to dial the fax
number.

This kind of works but this is assuming that the phone number connects
in 12 seconds every time. It may work consistantly but if you wait a
couple of seconds too long the card haings up on you.

What else do you want to know?

Bob

Unfortunately you are posting a telephony question not a fax question. All
dialing is done by the Windows dialer and the fax service isn't in play
until the handshakes begin. You might want to try posting in a telephony
group where they can help you with the intricacies of dialing rules.
The only time the fax service affects this is if you are using a calling
card that requires per user settings. Windows XP Fax can't support that
since it can only run under the Localsystem account.

There used to be. If not, just try one of the general Windows XP groups and
post a question with "Dialing Rules" in the subject.

If bobster99 found a solution, please let me know. I am having the same
problem with a Sam's Club calling card whereby even after entering 15 seconds
pause it tells me the line is busy. I'm posting on this forum because it is
where bobster99 first posted and even if he chose the wrong forum, Microsoft
does not make it easy to search for posts that might be related in other
forums.

You also need to post some information. You've posted none. Fax software,
how you constructed the rule, how you invoke said rule would be at least a
start.
