control image file type on save from DOC to HTML
oaksong[ at ]hotmail.com 10.07.2006 16:32:46
I've got a doc file with a grouped image.
When I save the file as HTML, the image is converted to a gif format.
It looks awful.
Is there a way to control the filetype that Word selects to save the
image as?

tia

Hi oaksong

I don't believe there is any way to set the kind of file type.

Hope this helps.

First, my aplogies to Shaua for chirping in after her reply.

I saw this inquiry earlier and really didn't understand the possibility.

I'm inlcined to believe that your Word had a setting somewhere that is both
in-error and causing this.

Two places that I would suggest checking are:
1) Tools / Options / Compatibility.
a)make sure that NOTHING is selected here and pick a file format that
is fairly universal.

2) Tools / Options / General / Web options / Pictures
a) Make sure BOTH
1) Rely on VML
2) Allow PNG as output
are both NOT selected

3) I would also consider Tools / Options / General / Web options /
and making sure that "Organize files in supporting folder" is NOT
selected. This will require you to load the images manually and also make
sure the path statements to the images are correct.
