Many thanks. That did it. Sorry for the slow response ... have been away.
It is really a pain to have to turn Automate Style off for every style,
though. Allowing a user to choose his/her own default would be much more
desirable.

If you turn it off in the Normal style, then the setting should
carry forward to other styles based on Normal (which is most of
them).
