How do I get the "get external data" function on my file menu
billypt 26.06.2006 20:01:02
I'm trying to import data from an Excel file to Access. The help
instructions discuss using the "get external data" function from the "File"
menu in Access but this is not an option I have available. I've downloaded
all the updates, etc. but have been able to correct the problem. Any
suggestions?

You don't mention which version of Access (or Excel) you are using. Is
there a chance that the version you are using "hides" menu items? Can you
click on the double-down-arrow symbol at the bottom of a menu list to expand
the list?

Thanks for your response Jeff. I'm using Office Access 2003 and I did expand
the menu items that were hidden before I tried anything else--hoping it would
be that easy. But, alas, it wasn't there.

So, when you "drop" down the File menu, what choices DO you have?
