Can't delete or move email in public folder
akus1 13.06.2006 11:40:02
Set up my first public folder in Exchange sp1 on SBS 2003.

Getting the emails in to the folder fine but no users are able to delete the
emails once they come in. Using Outlook 2003 email client. All users get a
message that says they do not have permissions including the administrator,
me.

Can anyone point me to the answer?

I'm viewing the folder in Exchange System Manager (could that be the
problem?). Logged on as Administrator. I select the folder properties. Under
Directory Rights, i try to give change permissions to Authenticated Users and
to Power Users by clicking all check boxes except Take ownership. It seems to
take the checks, but when I go back to the dialog, the checks are gone. The
Owner of the folder is System. I thought this mioght be the problem so i made
the owner Administrators. No help. I really need to make this work. Any
help apprectiated. I need all users to be able to delete items in this
public folder.

Acckk. Never mind. I simply needed to change permissions from the SBS Mgt
Console public folders place.

server management console-->yourservername (Exchange) and browse to public
folders. Right click on the specific folder, click properties.

I was trying from the Exchange Service Mgr. Thank you smallbizserver.net for
the answer! Just paid from the subscription..
