Currently our office is using several very customized and automated Office XP Word templates to produce legislative bill drafts. We are capturing several items of data in document variables and then sending that info to a SQL server via ADO. (not currently using any XML).
We are trying to plan ahead and see how we need to "grow" our applications in light of the rapidly changing Office System products.
Presently, I am in the process of creating new projects using VS2005 and VSTO to 'mimic' our current applications. I am attempting to utilize XML schemas and basically re-think how we capture the data and present it.
Since we are not going to implement any changes in our Office Software until the fall of 2007, My question is - should I stop using Office 2003 to develop with and try to develop with the Office 2007 beta. I certainly hate to build new applications that are going to be outdated before they are ever released to our users.
Any comments or suggestions?
