*Why the pain?* DezineWiz 14.05.2006 10:31:02 Hello Wide Windows World, You know, I was at the Genius Bar of an Apple Store the other day. I own three Macs, and knew nothing about networking them all together (other than how to receive an AirPort signal on each. In Windows speak, that's WiFi - 802.11 b, or 802.11 g). I was absolutely flabbergasted to learn that within less than ten minutes, I got a full lesson on how to network all of my computers together, when I know that in order to get the same out of Windows machines - if you are lucky, you would need to wade through a whole host of books, certifications and the like, and you may still not come out in the end. I, of course, had no problem whatsoever going home and happily sharing files between all of my computers. I think it took me, or, 60 seconds or so to set it all up. I suppose my big question is - Why the degeneration? Why the fight? Why the pain? Every Windows user I have ever come across (including myself) wants to throw the computer out the window half the time! Not only that, I find it INCREDIBLY interesting that I didn't need an IT consultant to network my machines together! You know, I own my own business, and when we do get to the point of having an office full of computers, I am very happy to know that I can set it all up myself, simply, and not have to pay for an IT department. This is just something that doesn't make sense to me, and that I don't understand. What is the deal with Windows? Why do people continue to use inferior products? I also find it interesting that when I go to the Microsoft home page, much of what I see there, I don't understand. I go to Apple's home page, and my grandmother (who doesn't own a computer) could understand it. Why the need to needlessly complicate matters? For that matter, why so many darn versions of Windows?! Bill Gates couldn't get everything to work happily together with just one version of the software? I don't mean to harp. I am just astounded that the richest man in the world continues to put up with humiliation at his level! :-) I used to use Windows machines, and was lucky if the paper I was writing not only saved, but also looked decent when I got through with it. Anyway, I won't continue to badger. As well, now with Intel based Macs, there simply is no excuses to keep purchasing degenerative hardware. For that one, or so program that you absolutely need a Windows machine for, the Intel based Macs can handle it. For everything else in one's life that needs to be done without viral interruption, or crashing, Macs can handle best. However, if anyone could enlighten me as to what on planet earth makes Windows so much better, and why they are still beating Apple's marketshare, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much!
