Mailmerge emails in Word are not getting through
William Winstone 04.04.2006 23:59:01
When I generate mailmerge emails through Word and Outlook (normally scanned
by Norton) - the emails are apparently being sent, but are not arriving. When
I generate an email from outlook, or send to from Word, there is no problem.
Mailmerging emails from Word seems to have broken down! All help welcome.
(I'm posting this on the Outlook section as well.)

Are you using the same versions of Word and Outlook?

Yes I am - Office 2003, and I've previously been able to do this ok.
Mailmerging text (non email is fine).

I'm having the same problem with Word/Outlook 2003. Mailmerge works fine to
new document or printer. But when I try to merge to e-mail (Outlook),
nothing happens. Does Outlook have to be open? Can it be open and
minimized? Can't imagine a 'no' to either question. This is one of those
frustrating problems that works sometimes, but not predictably. Is there
any special configuration needed for Outlook to work with a merge? I'm
obviously doing it right on some attempts, but can't identify what's missing
when it doesn't work - a more frequent outcome.

I regularly use Outlook Express on the same system, but when starting
Outlook before doing a merge to e-mail, Outlook asks if I want it to be the
default and the answer is 'yes'.

Office 2003: Word for merge, Excel for database, and Outlook for e-mail
connection. Win 2000 system.

I may be able to answer my own question! Based on another post, went to IE
Tools-Internet Options-Programs tab and changed E-mail list setting from
Outlook Express to Outllook. After that change, the merge e-mails went out
as expected. Hopefully, not a random success.
