Word 2004

I've been a loyal, happy, enthusiastic user of Microsoft Word since
the creation. Suddenly, when I click on "Word Help" I get an
announcement: "The ""Word Help"" file that contains this topic
cannot be found. Run Microsoft Setup Assistant to reinstall the
missing file."

I insert my original Microsoft Word 2004 update CD and run
Microsoft Setup Assistant Custom Install. Nowhere do I find a hint
about the missing file.

I try to reinstall Word. The CD says it can't find the previous
installation, so it can't proceed. Not a surprise, because the CD
is looking for an older version of Word.

Please, how do I get my word help file back?

OS 10.4.4

You need to find a previous version of word to validate your installation of
an update. You would have needed this on the original install. Find that
(or somehow borrow one).
