I have Office 2003 Pro install on XP Pro, I click the Access icon and the Windows Installer window opens, says the please wait while office…and then closes about half way. And nothing happens. All other apps work fine.

Access is probably partially installed, just enough to cause problems. Your best bet is probably to uninstall Office and reinstall doing the custom install. There you can make sure you're installing everything you need.

I am having the same issue with a Admin shared install of Office 2003 with all service packs and updates slipstreamed into the CD. Eerything else works in Office but Access. When trying to start Access it comes up with the prepairing to install and when it goes away Access failes to start. I have uninstalled and rebooted and then have done a clean install on the same computer and it doesn't change anything. I have had it install from a slipstreamed CD better than from the network. The bad thing is that the image that I burned to CD is the one that I am using at the admin share. The network is gigabit speed. This issue seems to be getting bigger since SP2 came out. I hape that Microsoft fixes this soon because Acces is a very important part of our business. THX
