I am not certain I can help on the entire process, but the runapp macro, if you kind of go through the little Wizard with it. will ask you for the file locate you want to open. It took me several tryies to realize that I first had to tell the macro what software to run.
For example, I want to open and work with the data in Word, the command line would start with WinWord.exe \\network-drive\folder\filename.doc and so forth. That WinWord.exe makes or breaks the deal. Without it, the macro just sits there and frustrates you into feeding the mouse to the cat.
Did this answer at least a part of your question? I haven't ever needed to run a mail merge, so its something I don't know anything about. -- Darren BA-DBA Nelnet
