I have a client who uses the French La Poste service for parcels, this uses a program written using Windev with *.fic tables.
I have written a sales/stock control program which requires entry of customer names and addresses. It would be far more efficient if addresses were only entered once.
Does anyone know of an ODBC or other means of accessing these *.fic tables.
I haven't posted anywhere else but if there is a more likely newsgroup for this request please let me know.

In WinDEV, the *.FIC tables are called HyperFile so you must use the ODBC HyperFile driver. See http://faq.pcsoft.fr/webdev9/faqsearch.awp?search=odbc (in french) for more info or search Google with « ODBC Hyperfile ».

[Quoted Text] Thanks for that advice. I haven't hit on the actual driver yet, but that probably has more to do with my French.

I'm not sure if you will be able to get your hand on a free copy of this driver without paying for a copy of Windev.

You have confirmed my fear, it's an awfull lot of money to pay for an ODBC driver. The *.fic files are text files so it looks as thought I will have to access this table the hard way.
Thanks

[Quoted Text] Thanks for your reply. I could not actually see a copy of the ODBC driver for separate download which by in no way means that it wasn't there. I have put a question on the forum and live in hope.

The copy is right there, under the title « ODBC on Hyper File (optional) » and with the link:
ftp://ftp.pcsoft.fr/windev8_315/us/WD80PACKODBC315pu.exe
However, I don't know if this driver will install if you don't have a copy of the Windev program already running on your machine. You will have to make the test yourself.

I think I will have to get my client to get a copy of the ODBC driver from La Poste as someone suggested.
Thanks for your help.
