how do I stop save as not responding
David Finley 06.02.2006 21:27:54
Using Office XP my computer has started giving the message "Save as not
responding" when I try to save as. I also get the same problem when I try to
attache an item to an e mail. It hangs for about a minute then responds.
How do I correct this please.
It has only started happening recently - had the computer and system for
about 3 years without problems.

David,
I'm wrestling with a very similar problem on my daughter's laptop. It's
also just a couple weeks new.

Her comp freezes when we try to "save as" a new winword document.

In our case, if, in the "save as" window you hit the drop down button, it
will time out long before the system responds.

This forum seems a dead zone, but perhaps two of us making noises might get
noticed by someone in Redmond and who knows where it might lead? Even to a
useful computing experience?

The "forum" is not dead at all, but it's focused on XML applications in
Office 2003 and soon 2007. And you shouldn't expect many folks from
Microsoft in any of these newsgroups, anyway.

Both your and the OP's question are off-topic in here and would be much
better placed in a different group
(microsoft.public.word.application.errors, maybe).

I see that both of you came here via the Microsoft's web interface. I
don't have any experience with that. It would still be good to know how
you came here/what made you choose this forum (maybe there's a
misleading link somewhere).
