Network performance
"orjan hagstrom" <orjan.hagstrom[ at ]spray.se> 31.01.2006 12:05:45
Hi

I have an 2000Access application which run in several network
installations.

One of my customers claims that the application is very slow in his network.

On the server he has the table database (containing all his recorded data)
and the .mdw-file. On the client he has the object database (containing
forms, reports, code etc) and the Access 2000 runtime.

The path to the table database is very long with blanks and dots as you can
see below

G:\Kulturverksamhet\Konstmuseum\Offkonst\Konstregister backup
4.11\Konstverksbilder\ktables.mdb

I have two questions if someone can help me on this:

Does a long path slow down the performance?

Is Runtime slower than the "real" Access?

Best regards

Yes it can.

Not to my knowledge.

Have a look at the following page for some pointers on performance:

No. It's the exact same msaccess.exe with registry settings making it
a runtime.
