Outlook group in collapsed view always
robin 25.01.2006 20:29:03
My InBox, (& other folders) used to always show my groups in "collapse" view,
now it's ALWAYS expanded, even when I go between folders after collapsing
them. How do I reset it to ALWAYS be in collapse view unless I expand it
myself?

look in customize views to see if it's set for expand or collapse.

go into define views (http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/custom_views.htm)
find the view by name and reset it then go to the group by button (under
modify) and check the expand state. If this view is not working in other
folders where it's applied, you should start outlook with the cleanviews
switch, but you will lose any custom views you have.

I have found the setting you are referring to - but when I choose as last
viewed - I always get all my groups full expanded, this is not the behaviour
that I was used to in 2003. I am running technical refresh beta 2

try it with collapsed, not last viewed.

That does work ok - in my 2003 I can 2 out of the 4 groups that I have
categorized open and when I return to outlook, just these 2 are open, the
rest are collapsed. I suspect we may have a beta bug here - who does this go
to?
